The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species sorts species by extinction risk into Least Concern, Near Threatened, Vulnerable, Endangered, Critically Endangered, Extinct in the Wild and Extinct, with Data Deficient for species too poorly known to assess. Domestic animals are not assessed, and many invertebrates have never been evaluated.
